I received a Ph.D. in Urban Entomology from the University of Florida in 2011 and I am currently working in the Island Biodiversity, Biogeography and Conservation research group (IBBC) of cE3c. I am a Post-Doc Researcher at the University of Azores. My research focuses on impact of climate change on Island Biodiversity and implications for conservation.

For some years I was involved in urban entomology research using as model system the drywood termite Cryptotermes brevis.

I am part of the directive board of a NGO association, Núcleo de Ambiente da Universidade dos Açores, an environmental association that has as objectives guarding the environment, promoting sustainable development through education, information and formation, reflection and political intervention and defending actions towards the resolution of specific environmental issues.

My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: Investigating what impacts climate change has on ecosystems as a whole. Investigating which species can be used as bioindicators of climate change. Studying how climate change can affect species functional traits in an ecosystem.
