I am a Lecturer in Lecturer in Palaeoenvironmental Science at the University of Southampton (UK).

I am a biogeographer who explores the mechanisms by which vegetation, in particular tropical and subtropical forests in island ecosystems, interacts with the environment. My main motivation is bringing the perspectives of space and time to bear on questions in biogeography. My work uses a palaeoecological approach (e.g. fossil pollen, charcoal, and ancient molecules) to help understand how resilient individual plant species and their assemblages are to past and future disturbances.
